Name: Isla Badenoch

Company/Organisation: Postcode Films

Job title: Creative Producer/Visual Artist

Fields: Documentary, VR, Storytelling

Date Company founded: August 2014

Company Description: Postcode Films explores the relationship between place and identity. Intimately telling stories from across the globe at the intersection between the personal and the political, our work explores the relationship between people, place and identity – with imagination and integrity at the heart of each project.

We work collaboratively with our contributors, focusing on process as much as product: we truly value the relationships we build through filmmaking. Our films are character-led, giving voice to individuals who are rarely heard and even more rarely understood. No matter how complex the issue, we produce engaging visual portraits grounded in emotional truth.

Personal Bio: I’m a documentary filmmaker, creative producer and visual artist. I have a Masters from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has exhibited her projects both in the UK and internationally. I’ve worked for a diverse variety of creative industries from programming film festival Sheffield Doc/Fest, writing articles for The Guardian to scripting audio trails for National Heritage sites across the UK.

I’ve developed several international documentary films on subjects ranging from religious tolerance in Sierra Leone, the Danish UN General Secretary, families surviving baby loss and pub closures in rural parts of the UK. Having been awarded funding in the UK and Denmark, my work in VR filmmaking focuses on explorative collaboration through storytelling on universal subjects such as mental health, memory & trauma, youth culture and LGBT gender identity.
